One Folder, Seven Steps, Three Keys

The whole toolkit sits in one directory. Walk it and it holds 1,254 files at 142,873,569 bytes, which is 136.25 mebibytes. Four parts make that total: README.md at 3,148 bytes, 00_Brief with 13 documents at 62,705 bytes, 10 scripts at 59,268 bytes, and projects with 1,230 files at 142,748,448 bytes. The method is 7 steps: write the script, voice it, generate the stills, generate the clips, assemble, grade, ship. The keys are 3: 2 required and 1 optional fallback, written into a template of 2,171 bytes. The stills come off MiniMax image-01 at 720 by 1280, the clips come off MiniMax Hailuo-2.3 as image-to-video, the voice comes off ElevenLabs, and the navy and gold grade is optional. The same template records the 3 limits that stop a session: a 1,500 character prompt limit on stills, a video quota per 5 hour window and per week, and the 5 hour window as the one that blocks most often. That is the entire dependency surface of the method. Three keys, 2 vendors, 1 folder, and no platform account holding the work.

The folder states the single most important number in the whole method 3 times and gives 3 answers. README.md says the hook goes in the first 1 second. The script for the finished film says the hook lands in 1.5 seconds and names the structure it uses, the curiosity loop. HOOK_LIBRARY.md, 7,699 bytes, says the hook stack runs from 0 to 3 seconds and that the context lock lands between 1.5 and 3.0. So the answer is 1, or 1.5, or 1 to 3, depending on which file is open. The library is not thin. It carries 7 named frameworks, from shock-to-logic to proof-first, plus 3 hook elements that every hook needs and 8 audit checks from the scrollback method. The editing grammar in the same file is not ambiguous at all: cut every 0.5 to 2 seconds, most cuts near 1 second, captions burned in and effectively mandatory, on-screen text at 36 to 60 point, and beat sync at 110 to 120 beats per minute, which works out to a cut roughly every 0.5 seconds. Then 1 rule sits under all of it: hook in 1 second, cut on the beat, caption every word, end with a reason to follow. One folder, 3 timings, 1 hard rule.

README.md prints the folder map, and 4 of the names on that map are not on the disk. It lists INSTALL.md, and its last line points at INSTALL.md again for the full setup. There is no INSTALL.md in the folder. It lists a config folder holding api_keys.template.md. There is no config folder, and the key template lives in 00_Brief at 2,171 bytes. It lists a prompts folder holding NEGATIVE_PROMPTS.md, STYLE_BLOCKS.md and HOOK_LIBRARY.md. It lists a references folder holding TRENDS_2026.md, MORPH_RISK_REGISTER.md and VOICE_GUIDE.md. Neither folder exists. All 13 documents sit flat in 00_Brief, from a 2,466 byte negative prompt file to a 10,537 byte social media playbook. The scripts carry the same defect one level down. The manual names 5 scripts, and the disk holds 10, because gate_still.py, gen_stills_direct.py, gen_video_direct.py, minimax_tts.py and assemble_map_is_dead.py were added without 1 line of the manual changing. The manual also sends the stills to a folder called stills/mmx, and that path does not exist either. Every instruction in the manual still works. Every path it prints needs a lookup first, which is the difference between a handover and a hint.

The manual describes a folder you copy to a new machine: the method, not the product. The folder on disk now carries the film. projects holds 1,230 files at 142,748,448 bytes, and 1 project sits inside it. The film is called The Map Is Dead and it holds 5 numbered folders: 01_Images with 9 files at 1,791,737 bytes, 02_Video with 19 at 39,444,851 bytes, 04_Archive with 1 file at 13,908,459 bytes, 05_Frames with 1,198 at 87,601,349 bytes, and clips with 2 at 1,507 bytes, plus a script of 545 bytes. The 1,198 frames split across 6 parts: 200, 200, 200, 200, 200 and 198. The 8 rendered clips are listed in clips/concat.txt as seg_00 through seg_07, and clips/tasks.json holds the 8 job ids with the status written as done on all 8 of them. Add those 8 segments and you get 9,466,178 bytes. The concatenated file that shipped measures 9,460,434 bytes, which is 5,744 bytes less than the parts it was built from, because a re-mux drops the container overhead the joins no longer need. The voice file is 711,405 bytes. The archived master is 13,908,459 bytes against the annotated cut at 13,353,644. None of this travels in a template. It travelled because the folder never got cleaned out, and the archive is the reason the next film starts at step 2 instead of step 1.

The key template sorts its keys into 2 columns, and the sorting is the useful part. Required: ELEVENLABS_API_KEY for the voice and MINIMAX_API_KEY for stills and video, the second one carrying the sk-cp- prefix that records which plan it came from. Optional: XAI_API_KEY, used only if the MiniMax stills fail. So 3 keys are really 2 plus a spare, and 1 line of the file says so. The negative prompts are tiered the same way. Tier 1 is a single global set that attaches to every still and every clip at every renderer, and tier 2 covers body and anatomy with the note that it is not needed for this project. The global tier is a list of tells: waxy skin, plastic sheen, uncanny, doll-like, morphing face, identity drift, extra fingers, fused fingers. The instruction underneath the list is shorter than the list itself. Design the shot around what the model cannot do. If a shot needs a face, keep it medium-framed and short. If it needs a hand, frame the wrist. The rule is not a preference about style. It is the only line in the folder that stops a paid render from being thrown away, and it costs nothing.

The worth of the folder is not its 10 scripts or its 7 hook frameworks. It is that every number in it can be re-weighed in 1 command. os.walk plus os.path.getsize returned 1,254 files at 142,873,569 bytes for this folder, and the same 2 calls returned the 1,198 frames, the 8 segments and the 9,466,178 byte sum against a shipped file of 9,460,434 bytes. Nothing in this piece was quoted from the manual. It was counted off the disk, and 4 of the counts disagree with the manual, which is the point. On the people side the same discipline reads the same way. Entrade built 200 wood-gasification machines across the UK and Europe, and 200 is a count somebody can walk. A EUR 75 million industrial group was restructured, and a counterparty can recount it from its own records. Sixteen years of field work runs through rural Nigeria, post-conflict Serbia, Kazan, Fukushima and Silicon Valley, and each of those stops is a date other people kept. The probability that a handover document drifts away from its own folder is not small, and it is close to 1 when nobody re-walks the tree. So keep the count, re-run the walk, and let the folder state its own size before the manual does. Keep more of yourself, for longer.
